The South Carolina Stingrays postponed their Friday road game in Savannah and Saturday home game against the Orlando Solar Bears due to the PHPA players’ strike, which began after the union’s December 26 deadline for a new collective bargaining agreement passed without resolution. The ECHL’s remaining contests against Orlando this weekend remain to be determined, with the team working to field players for future games.
Strike Background
The prior CBA expired June 30, 2025, and negotiations stalled over issues like salaries, scheduling, equipment, and travel. On December 25, the ECHL offered a “last, best, and final” proposal, including a 20% salary increase, higher per diem, more off days, and equipment upgrades, but claims the PHPA did not let players vote on it.
Key ECHL Proposals
- Mandatory weekly off days, with no more than 7 days between them and post-“3-in-3” rest.
- 325-mile travel limit for back-to-back games (up to 400 miles twice per season).
- Holiday breaks, such as December 22-25 in 2025-26.
- Increased career enhancement payments and commercial appearance opportunities.
