Bitterly cold temperatures are hitting the Lowcountry in South Carolina, with an arctic front bringing lows into the mid-to-low 20s overnight Sunday into Monday, and wind chills dropping into the teens or lower.​

Temperatures fell into the 30s Sunday evening, reaching the low 20s overnight with gusty winds worsening the chill. Monday highs stay in the upper 30s to low 40s, dropping again overnight before warming to mid-50s by Tuesday afternoon.​
Cold Weather Advisory
Issued by the National Weather Service for the tri-county area from 10 p.m. Sunday to 10 a.m. Monday, it warns of wind chills below 20 degrees, possibly single digits inland.​
Safety Tips
Bring pets indoors overnight, dress in layers with hats and gloves to prevent frostbite, drip faucets to protect pipes, and cover sensitive plants from frost damage. Warming shelters like Hibben in Mount Pleasant and others are open Sunday through early week for those in need.
