A serious shooting incident in Lake City has led to multiple attempted murder charges, with both adults and juveniles allegedly involved in the gunfire.
What Happened
According to the Lake City Police Department, officers responded around 5 p.m. on March 27 to reports of suspicious individuals near Elm Street and Spruce Street.
Witnesses reported:
- Individuals dressed in black with face coverings
- Suspicious behaviour before the shooting
- Gunfire breaking out shortly after
Multiple People Charged
Police have charged two men in connection with the incident:
- Travis Marquise Major, 33
- Ty’Quavious Washington, 18
Their charges include:
Major:
- Two counts of attempted murder
- Felon in possession of a firearm
- Possession of a weapon during a violent crime
- Delivery of a pistol to a minor
Washington:
- Three counts of attempted murder
- Possession of a weapon during a violent crime
Juveniles Involved
Authorities say the situation involved several juveniles on both sides:
- Three juvenile suspects were involved
- Four juvenile victims were identified
- Names have not been released due to their ages
Investigators allege that Major provided firearms to the juveniles before the shooting and collected them afterward.
Gunfire Exchange and Evidence
Police described the incident as an “exchange of gunfire” between groups.
Key findings include:
- About 25 shell casings recovered at the scene
- Surveillance footage captured the Event
- The suspects reportedly ran into a nearby home after the shooting
Current Status
Both Major and Washington are being held without bond at the Florence County Detention Center.
