Dominion Energy employees in the Lowcountry are using their Good Neighbor Fund to deliver holiday food and gifts to local families in need, continuing a tradition that has lasted more than four decades.

Good Neighbor Fund tradition

The Good Neighbor Fund has operated for about 43 years, funded and run by Dominion Energy employees to assist customers who are struggling beyond just paying utility bills. Company representatives describe it as a way to support basic needs and “give hope” to neighbors facing hard times.

This year’s holiday effort

On Tuesday morning, employees packed more than 300 boxes of food and toys, serving families that include over 150 children in the Charleston area. Crews then personally delivered these boxes to the homes of Dominion customers who qualified for the program, focusing on providing both a holiday meal and pantry staples for the colder months.

Personal impact and volunteers

Long-time employee volunteer Marionette Ware, who has worked on the project for nearly its entire history, says her own childhood experience receiving help after her father died inspires her continued involvement. Around 50 employees volunteered this season, and Ware says the effort continues to reshape her view of what generosity can be.
