Coroner names two people discovered dead in a submerged vehicle along River Road

Charleston, South Carolina – The Charleston County Coroner’s Office has identified two people killed when a grey sedan drove off a bridge on River Road on Wednesday afternoon.

Curtis McNeil, 67, and Gerard Sherman, 44, died in the crash at 767 River Road.

Around 2:30 p.m., units arrived on Johns Island after receiving reports of a submerged car.

When they arrived, the witness described how they had witnessed the grey sedan drive off the bridge and into the river below.

Crews successfully recovered the overturned truck. The Charleston County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the event.
