Vehicle discovered submerged at Mount Pleasant Pond

Mount Pleasant, South Carolina – Authorities rushed early Monday morning to a vehicle discovered submerged in a pond.

It occurred around 12:40 a.m. on Wando Park Boulevard, off Long Point Road.

Multiple Mount Pleasant Police Department units were seen on video at the scene, along with a white vehicle in the water with its lights still on.

According to Sgt. Robert Blaschke of the Mount Pleasant Police Department, officers arrived to the scene after receiving a crash warning by cellphone and saw a Chevy Silverado in the water.

A team from the Mount Pleasant Fire Department extended a ladder to the truck, and crews searched for anyone inside; however, firefighters found that the vehicle was not occupied.

According to Mount Pleasant police, the driver was caught strolling nearby and informed cops he was going to a friend’s house.

Despite conducting normal field sobriety tests, the report stated that cops found no evidence that he was driving under the influence.

According to the report, the man informed officers he was heading to a friend’s house nearby to change clothes, but he did not return until a tow truck arrived and lifted the truck out of the water.
