SOUTH CAROLINA— A Charleston man was detained Wednesday after a traffic stop turned up a stolen firearm and illegal substances, according to the North Charleston Police Department.
Police said they stopped a car near Forest Hills and Dorchester Road after detecting dark window tint and an expired tag. As cops approached, they reported smelling marijuana and seeing unusual conduct from the driver, who was not recognized as the culprit.
During the stop, Tyorrie Prioleau-Seabrook, 24, of Charleston, was held after officers discovered a stolen gun that had reportedly been thrown from the vehicle, as well as Oxycodone pills for which he had no prescription. Prioleau-Seabrook is not allowed to possess firearms under federal law.
He was charged with possessing a weapon during a violent crime, receiving stolen items, and trafficking opiates and was lodged into the Al Cannon Detention Center without incident.
