South Carolina officer rushes to save a desperate furry soul trapped in a car engine

Every police officer’s primary mission is to protect and serve people who are unable to protect themselves, which may include animals. One brave officer from Charleston, South Carolina, demonstrated just that.

On a bright afternoon, Officer Batiz received a complaint about a cat trapped inside a Jeep engine. He quickly went out to assist.

When he came, he summoned another officer for help, and the two worked quietly and methodically until they were able to release the tiny black kitten from her horrific trap.

Officer Batiz then canvassed the Charleston neighborhood for the kitten’s owner, but no one seemed to know where the kitten had come from or who owned her.

As night passed and his shift came to a close, Officer Batiz decided to bring her home for the evening, intending to transport her to the shelter the next morning.

Officer Crosby picked her up from Batiz’s house and drove her to the local shelter, where she was examined for a microchip.

When none were discovered, it became evident that she was probably born on the streets. After a thorough examination and vaccinations, she was ready to be listed for adoption.

But, just as she had curled herself into the Jeep engine, the small kitten found her way into Officer Crosby’s heart, and this time she had no intention of leaving.

He chose to adopt her and give her the name Clover, most likely because he believed she would bring him good luck.
