Police are seeking information after a 14-year-old bicyclist was hit by automobiles on James Island

Charleston, South Carolina — Police are seeking information from the public after a 14-year-old was struck while riding his bike on James Island this week.

The incident occurred just before midnight on October 8 on Dills Bluff Road near Darwin Street, according to the Charleston Police Department.

Authorities say the bike was hit by two automobiles that fled south. Details about the child’s condition were not immediately available.

Investigators suspect one of the vehicles is a dark gray 1998-1999 Nissan Altima or a dark gray 2006-2009 Infiniti, which may also be missing a passenger-side mirror.
