Camden, South Carolina — In what could be one of the most straightforward cases in recent memory, a Camden man photographed his own demise – literally.
Deputies from the Kershaw County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to an East Camden storage facility Saturday following complaints of a burglary. Among the stolen things was a cellular game camera. What didn’t the thief realize? The camera was still on, delivering photos to its owner.
Shortly after the break-in, the victim began receiving a steady stream of images portraying the suspect himself. From many perspectives. Looking straight at the camera.
Deputies soon identified Kenneth Davidson, 53, based on the surprise selfies and paid him a visit. Davidson admitted the theft and returned all of the stolen things.
But the story does not stop there.
Later, the victim contacted deputies again, this time out of fear rather than to report any additional stolen stuff. The game camera, which was still faithfully clicking away, had captured one final photo of Davidson during his arrest. In the shot, he appeared to be doubled over, possibly vomiting.
The victim asked if he was all right.
Davidson is currently being jailed at the Kershaw County Detention Center, where he is being charged with burglary and larceny, as well as some embarrassing circumstances.
Sometimes the camera adds more than simply ten pounds; it adds a felony.
