A South Carolina man was slain in a shooting inside a Columbia restaurant, according to the Richland County Sheriff.

According to the Richland County Sheriff’s Department, a South Carolina man was shot and died at a restaurant on Sunday night.

Juan L. Reyes-Padilla, a 43-year-old Columbia resident, was killed in the shooting at Tacos Puerto Barrio, Richland County Coroner Naida Rutherford said Monday.

Deputies responded to a gunshot around 9 p.m. at the Honduran/Mexican restaurant in a strip mall at 2205 Decker Boulevard, according to the sheriff’s department. That’s in Columbia, between North Trenholm Road and Interstate 77.

Deputies discovered Reyes-Padilla at Tacos Puerto Barrion after he was shot in the upper torso, according to the sheriff’s department. According to the sheriff’s department, EMS responded to the eatery where Reyes-Padilla died on the spot.

No other injuries were reported.

The shooter or shooters fled the eatery before deputies arrived, according to the sheriff’s department.

The number of people involved in the shooting was unknown, and there was no indication on what motivated the gunfire.

There have been no arrests, but the sheriff’s department and coroner’s office are continuing to investigate the shootings.
