Charleston, South Carolina — Beginning Wednesday, new parking rates will apply to two downtown Charleston garages operated by Charleston County.
Parking in the Cumberland (90 Cumberland Street) and King and Queen (85 Queen Street) garages will now cost $1 for every 20 minutes. The daily maximum rate will be $24, with a $50 fee charged for lost tickets.
Higher monthly pass rates, which provide 24/7 access to Charleston County garages, will also go into effect on October 1. The following new monthly rates will be applied:
King and Queen Garage costs $215 per month.
Cumberland Garage costs $175 per month.
Cardholders with a debit or credit card on file with the county will see their payments processed at the new rate on November 1, according to officials.
Officials stated that the rate adjustment was intended to create a consistent pricing structure for transient rates across all garages, following a thorough market analysis that revealed the county’s monthly and temporary rates were below market values.
