North Charleston, South Carolina – The North Charleston Police Department issued a warning this week about the dangers of participation in illegal automobile meets.
According to law enforcement officials, unauthorized meetings frequently result in risky activities such as street racing, stunt driving, and executing car maneuvers, which can endanger the public.
These meetings, according to the NCPD, are frequently organized via social media and can result in harsh penalties such as criminal prosecution for participants.
“These unauthorized gatherings often result in trespassing, noise disturbances, and reckless driving, posing a threat to public safety,” according to the organization. “Trespassing, in particular, is a criminal violation punishable by fines and imprisonment. It is critical to protect private property and follow local rules and regulations.”
The NCPD instead advised people to look into other, safe, and legal ways to participate in automotive enthusiast activities.
“Let’s work together to maintain a safe and respectful community for everyone,” according to the agency. “Remember, safety is everyone’s responsibility.”
North Charleston police urged anyone with information on unlawful car meets or other safety issues should call the department.
