Charleston County, South Carolina – A lady is charged in connection with a fatal auto-pedestrian hit-and-run on Edisto Island last Saturday.
Janet Brown, 53, of Adams Run, was arrested for felony driving under the influence and fleeing the scene of an accident, according to the Charleston County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies rushed to Highway 174 and Pine Landing Road at 7 p.m. Saturday after receiving reports that a vehicle had struck a person.
The pedestrian, who has yet to be publicly recognized, died on the scene.
“The vehicle that had hit the individual initially fled the scene but was later stopped by a concerned citizen,” the sheriff’s office said in a press statement.
Brown was transported to the Al Cannon Detention Center.
