A stretch of Calhoun Street was restricted due to downed power lines

Charleston, South Carolina — A part of Calhoun Street in downtown Charleston was closed Thursday afternoon when a tractor-trailer struck a telephone pole, knocking down multiple wires.

The Charleston Police Department reported that the stretch between Rutledge Avenue and Smith Street was closed to westbound traffic at 12:45 p.m.

Crews are now on scene. There have been no recorded power outages.
