Charleston County, South Carolina – A Charleston Police Department school resource officer has been hailed as a hero for assisting an unconscious school staff member.
C. E. Williams Middle School SRO Kara Zagol took action earlier this month after a staff member experienced a significant medical issue at school.
According to the Charleston County School District, Zagol responded calmly and immediately with life-saving actions. The district stated that she also supported workers and children during a tough time.
“Her presence provided reassurance and stability when it was needed most,” a district spokesperson said. “What makes this even more surprising is that it was Officer Zagol’s first day at C. E. Williams North. She acted quickly and decisively to provide life-saving help and stabilize the patient until paramedics arrived and continued advanced care.”
The district further stated that Zagol’s actions “speak volumes” about her readiness, professionalism, and dedication to duty.
