A 41-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a homicide that occurred in downtown Charleston on Monday night. The incident took place at an apartment complex on King Street, where officers responded to a call around 7:45 p.m. for an unresponsive resident.
Upon arriving at the scene, police discovered a deceased person who appeared to have been violently assaulted. The authorities later identified Barry Jerod Stanley, an acquaintance of the victim, as a suspect. Stanley was arrested and charged with murder and is currently being held at the Al Cannon Detention Center.
