COLUMBIA, S.C. — A deadly shooting in Richland County has led to the identification of the victim and an arrest.
Victim Identified
The Richland County Coroner, Naida Rutherford, confirmed that the victim of the shooting was Anthony C. Thompson, 24, of Columbia.
Details of the Shooting
According to the Richland County Sheriff’s Department (RCSD), the incident occurred on Bush River Road, where Kevin Jenkins, 55, allegedly shot Thompson after a dispute. Following the shooting, authorities were able to locate Jenkins at a homeless camp near the scene.
Charges Filed
Jenkins has been charged with murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime in connection with the shooting.
Ongoing Investigation
Coroner Rutherford stated that her office would continue working with the Richland County Sheriff’s Department to thoroughly investigate the incident.
