A police response in North Charleston led to the arrest of a man on drug-related charges after reports of trespassing near a gas station.
What Happened at the Scene?
According to the North Charleston Police Department, officers were called around 7:30 a.m. on Sunday to an Exxon gas station on Ashley Phosphate Road. The call was about intoxicated individuals near a dumpster area.
When officers arrived, they found a man matching the description and observed that he appeared to be under the influence.
What Police Found
The man had an open backpack, and officers noticed a used needle inside. Based on the situation and prior familiarity with him, police conducted a search of his belongings.
During the search, they reportedly found:
- Cash
- A small bag containing a pink powder substance
A field test later indicated that the substance was likely fentanyl.
Who Was Arrested?
The suspect was identified as Michael Fraley, a 32-year-old man from Ladson.
He was taken into custody at the scene without incident.
Charges Filed
Fraley has been charged with possession of fentanyl. After his arrest, he was transported to the Al Cannon Detention Center for booking.
