A late-night incident in North Charleston led to the arrest of a teenager after his own mother alerted police. The case has raised concerns about youth safety and access to weapons.
What Happened in the Incident?
According to the North Charleston Police Department, the situation began around 12:30 a.m. on Sunday. The teen’s mother contacted authorities after learning that her 17-year-old son was trying to enter a nightclub called Generation X Cabaret.
Since he was underage, this raised immediate concern, and officers began searching the area.
How Police Located the Teen
Officers later found the teenager near the intersection of Ashley Phosphate Road and Cross County Road. He was reportedly attempting to get an Uber ride at the time.
Police approached him and took him into custody without any reported incident.
Weapon Found
During the encounter, officers discovered that the teen was carrying a handgun. This made the situation more serious, as minors are not legally allowed to possess firearms.
Charges and Custody
The teenager has been charged with possession of a firearm by a person under 18. After his arrest, he was taken to the Department of Juvenile Justice.
