A late-night police response in North Charleston led to the arrest of a man on serious weapons charges outside a nightclub. The incident has raised concerns about illegal firearms and public safety in busy nightlife areas.

What Happened Outside the Nightclub?

According to police, officers were called around 4 a.m. to the G Club on Peppermill Parkway after receiving reports of armed individuals in the area.

While checking the scene, officers found a vehicle parked on the sidewalk. Inside the car, a man was asleep in the passenger seat with a handgun resting on his lap. This immediately raised alarm among officers.

Illegal Weapon Found

Authorities reported that the firearm had been modified with an illegal attachment. This type of device can turn a semi-automatic weapon into a fully automatic one, making it much more dangerous.

Such modifications are strictly prohibited due to the increased risk they pose.

Who Was Arrested?

Police identified the suspect as Darnell Triplett, a 24-year-old man from Ridgeville.

Officials also confirmed that:

  • He has a previous felony conviction
  • He was not legally allowed to possess a firearm

Charges Filed

Darnell Triplett now faces multiple charges, including unlawful possession of a machine gun and unlawful possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

He was taken into custody and booked at a local detention facility.
