Woman sent 'family-size plate' of oxycodone-laced lasagna to pregnant woman 'to trigger a miscarriage'

An Iowa woman was sentenced to prison for attempting to cause a miscarriage by giving a pregnant woman poisoned lasagna.

Incident Details

In late December 2025, 36-year-old Amber Dena Snow and a co-conspirator gave a family a pan of lasagna laced with oxycodone. Investigators said the dish was intended to cause a miscarriage in a pregnant woman.

Investigation

Authorities discovered the plot through electronic communications, search histories, and interviews with those involved. Snow’s child was present during the preparation and delivery of the lasagna and opposed the plan. Testing confirmed the lasagna contained oxycodone.

Charges and Sentence

Snow pleaded guilty to attempted nonconsensual termination of a pregnancy, child endangerment, intent to deliver a controlled substance, and four counts of conspiracy. She was sentenced to 10 years in state prison.

Co-Conspirator

Snow’s husband, 35-year-old Matthew Uthoff, was also charged in connection with the case and pleaded not guilty in April.
