A Georgia man, Ezekiel Lamar Jackson, 23, has been sentenced to life in prison with the possibility of parole for attacking a woman he hired to clean his home. Jackson pleaded guilty to kidnapping, aggravated assault, two counts of rape, and three counts of sodomy, according to the Cherokee County District Attorney’s Office.
Brutal Attack
The attack occurred on April 6, 2026, after Jackson posted on Nextdoor seeking a cleaning service. He selected the victim from about 15 respondents. During a walkthrough at his Canton apartment, Jackson suddenly stabbed the victim in the eye and face with a small screwdriver, choked her until she lost consciousness, and jammed his fingers down her throat to silence her.
Hours of Assault
Jackson sexually assaulted the victim over a five-hour period. Eventually, the victim convinced him to take her to the hospital. She suffered an orbital fracture and brain bleeds. Jackson was arrested at the hospital.
Evidence and Investigation
Police found a bloody towel and the screwdriver used in the attack at the apartment. A phone search revealed that the victim was the only woman who responded to Jackson’s cleaning service post, indicating he had specifically targeted her.
Court Proceedings
During sentencing, the victim spoke about the lasting physical and emotional impact on herself and her children. Cherokee County District Attorney Susan K. Treadaway described the attack as “torturous and horrific” and stated that a life sentence was the only appropriate outcome.
