Two teenagers in Texas, Alyssa Canul, 17, and her boyfriend, Joseph Anthony Aguilar Campos, 18, have been charged with multiple felonies after allegedly luring victims through online dating apps and violently robbing them.

Arrests and Charges

Canul was arrested on Wednesday, May 27, and faces two counts of aggravated robbery, along with a possible charge for tampering with physical evidence. Aguilar Campos was arrested one day earlier, on May 26, on two counts of aggravated robbery. Both are being held at the Bexar County Adult Detention Center in San Antonio, with Canul’s bond set at $250,000 and Aguilar Campos’ at $300,000.

The Robbery Incidents

Both incidents occurred on Monday, May 25. In the first, a victim was pistol-whipped. In the second, a 15-year-old boy was shot four times but survived.

According to police and the arrest affidavit:

  • Canul allegedly used a dating app to lure the first victim to a park bench, where Aguilar Campos reportedly pistol-whipped him before robbing him.
  • In the second incident, Canul allegedly lured a victim to the Villa Mesa apartments. Aguilar Campos ambushed the victim from some bushes and shot him four times. The teen managed to reach a coffee shop where bystanders called 911, and he was hospitalized but is expected to recover.

Evidence and Investigation

Police obtained a recorded phone call in which Canul allegedly admitted to disposing of the weapon used in the robberies. Authorities continue to investigate the pair’s actions.
