A Wisconsin man has been charged with murder after allegedly shooting and killing his upstairs neighbor following a long-running dispute over noise complaints.

Ongoing Dispute Turns Deadly

According to investigators, 32-year-old Joshua Jordan had repeatedly complained to his landlord about noise coming from the apartment of 42-year-old Gregory McElwee Jr., who lived directly above him in a Milwaukee apartment complex.

Police say Jordan had previously threatened the victim and told the landlord on the day of the shooting that if the noise issue was not handled, he would “take care of it himself.”

Victim Shot After Hallway Confrontation

Authorities allege Jordan confronted McElwee in the hallway shortly after the victim returned home. Witnesses told police that Jordan was armed and making threats before opening fire.

McElwee reportedly ran toward his apartment, but Jordan allegedly continued the attack and kicked in the apartment door. The victim was found inside with gunshot wounds and later died.

McElwee’s teenage son, who was home at the time, called 911 after witnessing part of the incident.

Suspect Arrested After Chase

Police say Jordan fled the scene in a vehicle. Officers later located the car, but he allegedly led them on a high-speed chase before crashing and being taken into custody.

Jordan has been charged with first-degree intentional homicide, fleeing police, reckless endangerment and weapons-related offenses.

He is scheduled to appear in court for a preliminary hearing on June 11.
