Lowcountry Local First Hosting 13th annual Eat Drink Local Season through June

Published On:

Lowcountry Local First (LLF) has officially kicked off its 13th annual Eat Drink Local Season, running now through June 2024. This community-wide campaign invites everyone to celebrate the region’s vibrant food culture and support the local producers, chefs, farmers, and artisans who make it all possible.

This year’s season is packed with flavorful ways to get involved, from food challenges and educational experiences to one of the most anticipated culinary events of the year.

What’s On the Menu This Season?

🍓 Eat Drink Local Challenge (April 1 – May 31)
Support local with purpose. LLF challenges residents to shift at least $10 of their weekly food and beverage spending toward locally sourced products. Whether you’re shopping at farmers markets or dining at a neighborhood restaurant, every local dollar counts. Sign up solo or as a team, and get access to a treasure trove of helpful tools: market guides, recipes, CSA options, and more. Best of all? It’s free to join—and there are prizes to be won!

🎬 “Common Ground” Documentary Screening (April 23)
Get inspired to grow and give back. Join LLF for a special screening of Common Ground, a powerful documentary exploring regenerative farming and how we can all take part—whether on the farm, in the garden, or in our own backyards. Suggested donation: $10.

👩‍🍳 Chef’s Potluck Fundraiser (June 2)
LLF’s signature culinary celebration returns with its 16th annual Chef’s Potluck, held at the scenic Porter Room at Holy City Brewery in North Charleston. This all-inclusive, family-friendly event brings together 15+ top local chefs, beverage artisans, live music, and stunning views. Kids under 12 eat free, and early bird tickets are on sale through April 30—grab yours while they last!

Why It Matters

“This year, we are thrilled to promote the Lowcountry’s unique flavors, ingredients, and stories,” says campaign organizer Jordan Amaker. “Our goal is to connect people with the businesses that power our food and beverage scene. This industry has faced tough times recently, and this campaign is our way of uplifting and investing in its future.”

Whether you’re a seasoned locavore or just dipping your toes into eating more sustainably, Eat Drink Local Season is your invitation to taste, learn, and support the Lowcountry’s thriving food ecosystem.
