A federal administrative law judge in Florida has been arrested after allegedly attacking his wife with a butter knife during a domestic dispute.
Judge Accused of Assaulting Wife
According to police, 79-year-old Gerald Foulds and his wife became involved in an argument at their Miami home on Sunday morning.
Investigators allege that the argument turned physical when Foulds followed his wife into the kitchen, grabbed her shoulder and then cut her arm with a butter knife.
The victim reportedly fled to a neighbor’s house while bleeding and visibly shaken before seeking medical treatment at a nearby urgent care center.
Police Arrest Suspect
Authorities said the victim told officers there had been previous physical altercations during their 14-year marriage, though none had been reported to law enforcement.
Foulds was later arrested at the couple’s home and denied the allegations during a police interview.
Court Sets Bond
Foulds, who said he has served as a Medicare administrative law judge for more than two decades, appeared in court on Monday.
He is charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon causing bodily harm to an elderly person.
A judge set his bond at $2,500, which was later posted. As a condition of release, he cannot force the alleged victim from the home.
The case remains pending, and a future court date has not yet been scheduled.
