A fisherman at Myrtle Beach State Park accidentally caught an endangered Kemp’s Ridley sea turtle while fishing from the park pier on Saturday.
Turtle Rescue
The turtle was brought up using a drop net, and trained park rangers were called to assess and treat it. The animal was superficially hooked and entangled in fishing line, which rangers carefully removed.
Safe Release
After treatment and approval from the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources sea turtle staff, the turtle was released back into the water.
