A Clover police officer, Mara Anderton, 44, is facing serious felony charges after allegedly threatening her boyfriend with a gun during a domestic incident Thursday evening.

Charges and Arrest

Anderton, a patrol officer with Clover Police Department since 2024, was charged with domestic violence of a high and aggravated nature, possession of a weapon during a violent crime, and resisting arrest. She was arrested around 5:30 p.m. outside Chester and is currently in Chester County Jail pending an initial hearing.

Department Response

Clover Police Chief Randy Grice said the department holds officers to high standards and that such conduct will not be tolerated. Anderton has been placed on administrative leave without pay while an internal review continues alongside the criminal investigation.
