Heavy storms during Memorial Day night caused power outages in parts of South Carolina, USA. According to Duke Energy, more than 1,200 customers were without electricity in the Upstate area late Monday night.
Power Outage Details
As of 11:15 p.m., the outage numbers were:
Laurens County
- Around 238 customers lost power
- Electricity restoration was expected by 7 a.m. Tuesday
Spartanburg County
- Around 1,023 customers were without power
- Power restoration was estimated by 12:36 p.m. Tuesday
The outages were reported during strong Memorial Day storms moving through the region.
Duke Energy Monitoring Situation
Duke Energy crews were working to restore electricity as quickly as possible. Weather-related outages are common during strong storms because of fallen trees, damaged power lines, and lightning strikes.
