The Charleston Men’s Chorus will present a special Memorial Day concert as part of the ongoing Piccolo Spoleto Festival celebrations.
The performance, titled “A Patriotic Tribute: Charleston Men’s Chorus Memorial Day Concert,” is designed to honor the sacrifices made by American service members and veterans.
Organizers say the annual concert is one of the chorus’s most meaningful performances of the season.
Program to Feature Patriotic Classics
The concert will be directed by Adam Shepherd with accompaniment by Arshak Sirunyan.
Audience members can expect performances of patriotic favorites including “The Star-Spangled Banner,” “God Bless America,” “Stars and Stripes Forever,” “Armed Forces Medley,” and “Who Are the Brave.”
The musical program aims to celebrate both national pride and military service through traditional American songs.
Historian to Deliver Special Remarks
The event will also include remarks from military historian Dr. Fritz Hamer.
Hamer’s career has included work involving military history research, museum curation, and veterans’ oral history projects.
Organizers said his participation will add historical perspective and reflection to the Memorial Day program.
Concert Scheduled at St. Philip’s Church
The concert will take place at St. Philip’s Church on Church Street in downtown Charleston.
The performance is scheduled for May 25 at 12 p.m.
Tickets are available online, with general admission priced at $30 and student tickets available for $15. Children ages 10 and younger may attend for free.
Organizers Encourage Community Participation
Christin Navitsky said the chorus hopes community members will attend to honor veterans and enjoy patriotic music in one of Charleston’s most historic settings.
The event continues Charleston’s long tradition of Memorial Day observances connected to music, military remembrance, and community gatherings.
