Today, you are going to die': Security guard attempts to kill wife in several ways during attack, authorities claim

MIAMI, Fla. — A 67-year-old Miami man has been arrested after police say he attempted to kill his wife during a violent domestic incident on Friday evening.

Fael Francois is facing charges of attempted murder, aggravated assault, and domestic violence battery, according to a probable cause arrest affidavit obtained by Law&Crime.

Details of the Alleged Assault

Authorities say the assault occurred at a home in the 1100 block of NW 114th Street. The victim told police that she was sleeping when Francois allegedly grabbed a pillow and tried to smother her, making it difficult for her to breathe.

When the victim got out of bed, she was allegedly grabbed by her arms, shaken, and slapped multiple times in the face. She was able to break free and called her sister for help.

Francois then allegedly pointed a gun at her head and said, “Today, you are going to die.” He pulled the trigger, but no shots were fired because the firearm did not have a magazine inserted. Police say Francois allegedly remarked, “Oh s—, it’s not working.”

The affidavit states that Francois then allegedly struck his wife with an unknown object, causing a laceration on her left arm. She fled the home, hiding behind a shed while calling 911.

Arrest and Current Status

Miami-Dade police responded to the scene and took Francois into custody. He denied all allegations during an interview with authorities.

Francois is currently being held without bond at the Miami-Dade County Jail. No court date has been scheduled. According to the affidavit, Francois is originally from Haiti and works as a security guard.
