Gerald Larson, 52, has been sentenced to nearly 12 and a half years in federal prison after being caught with 58 kilograms of cocaine, authorities say.

Details of the Arrest

Larson, from Greenville, South Carolina, was stopped by the North Carolina Highway Patrol in October 2024 after leaving his home in Greer. A K-9 alerted officers to drugs in his vehicle, leading to the discovery of 15 kilograms of cocaine in a suitcase.

Search of Residence

Following the vehicle seizure, Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office and Homeland Security Investigations obtained a warrant for Larson’s residence. Authorities found an additional 43 kilograms of cocaine and over $419,000 in cash, totaling roughly 128 pounds.

Prior Convictions

Larson has previous state convictions in California for cocaine trafficking and firearms offenses.

Sentencing

United States District Judge Timothy M. Cain sentenced Larson to 151 months (12 years, 7 months) in federal prison, followed by five years of court-ordered supervision. There is no parole for federal crimes.
