Two 17-year-olds died in a violent head-on crash in North Carolina.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police are investigating a deadly collision that killed two 17-year-old teenagers in the Steele Creek area.

Crash Details

The crash occurred around 6:10 p.m. Wednesday in the 1600 block of Westinghouse Boulevard. Emergency crews found a Ford Mustang engulfed in flames and a damaged Chevrolet Camaro.

Victims

The driver and passenger of the Mustang, Adrian Melo-Escobar and Asletty Herrera-Ramirez, both 17, were pronounced dead at the scene. The Camaro driver sustained life-threatening injuries and was transported to a hospital.

Investigation

Preliminary findings indicate the Mustang crossed left of center into oncoming traffic before colliding with the Camaro. CMPD’s Major Crash Investigation Unit and DWI Task Force are continuing the investigation.
