A York County courtroom was filled with emotion Thursday as Pedro Mondragon Ramirez, 43, was sentenced to 50 years in prison for the stabbing death of his girlfriend, Leonor Alpizar, 37, and her unborn daughter, Brittany.

Details of the Crime

The attack occurred on May 16, 2025, at a mobile home. Alpizar suffered more than 20 stab wounds, and her unborn daughter was delivered by emergency C-section at 29 weeks but survived only 42 minutes. Alpizar’s 8-year-old son, Justin, called 911 and attempted to save his mother during the attack.

Courtroom Proceedings

The courtroom played the 911 call and police body camera footage capturing Justin’s desperate pleas for help. Witnesses described the boy as heroic, confronting the trauma with bravery at such a young age.

Defendant and Legal Outcome

Ramirez, an undocumented immigrant from Mexico in the U.S. for over 20 years, admitted to the murders using an interpreter. He pleaded guilty to two counts of murder and was sentenced by Judge Jane Merrill to 50 years in prison, the maximum allowed under a plea agreement.
