Authorities in Dorchester County, South Carolina, arrested a man after a domestic shooting that left two people injured.
Incident Details
Joseph Jerome Alston Jr., 52, of Summerville, was charged with two counts of attempted murder, domestic violence of a high and aggravated nature, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime. Deputies responded to the 9500 block of South Cardinal Drive off Ladson Road around 10:16 p.m. Friday.
Two victims were found with gunshot wounds and transported to a local hospital for treatment. Deputies secured the scene and evacuated others inside the home.
Investigation and Arrest
Alston was detained at the scene within minutes of deputies arriving. K-9 Elsa assisted in locating the firearm used in the shooting. The South Carolina Highway Patrol also assisted in the investigation.
Court and Custody
Alston was denied bond and remains in custody at the L.C. Knight Detention Center. The Dorchester County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division continues to lead the investigation.

Sheriff Sam Richardson praised the deputies for their prompt response, noting it helped save the victims’ lives and demonstrated collaboration among patrol, investigative, and K-9 units.
