A 19-year-old student at the University of Washington was killed in a stabbing attack inside a campus housing building in Seattle, according to police.
Victim Identified as Choir Soloist
Authorities identified the victim as Juniper Blessing, a student in the university’s School of Music.
Blessing was reportedly attacked May 10 while doing laundry at the Nordheim Court apartment complex, which serves as student housing.
Police said she suffered multiple stab wounds and was found dead at the scene.
Surveillance Video Helped Investigators
Investigators said surveillance footage showed Christopher Leahy, 31, entering the laundry room before the attack.
According to court documents, Leahy allegedly looked directly into a security camera moments before the stabbing.
Police later discovered the camera had been unplugged, though video was reportedly recovered from its memory card.
Suspect Turned Himself In
Authorities said Leahy turned himself in to police Tuesday after family members encouraged him to surrender.
He has since been charged with first-degree murder.
Court records show his bail was set at $10 million.
Family Remembers Victim
Blessing, who was transgender, graduated from the New Mexico School for the Arts in 2024.
Her family described her as talented, intelligent, and deeply caring toward others.
They said her death has left them devastated and “diminishes the world.”
