Four were charged in Augusta on federal narcotics trafficking charges

The United States Department of Justice announced that four people from Augusta have been indicted by a federal grand jury on drug trafficking charges.

Two Men Face Fentanyl and Firearm Charges

Authorities said Tyriquez McFadden, 39, and Nichael Lessey, 44, were charged in a five-count indictment.

The charges include:

  • Possession with intent to distribute 400 grams or more of fentanyl
  • Possession with intent to distribute crack cocaine
  • Possession with intent to distribute cocaine
  • Possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime
  • Possession of a firearm by a convicted felon

Additional Methamphetamine Charges Filed

Federal prosecutors also indicted:

  • Jacquez Sturgis, 36, for possession with intent to distribute 50 grams or more of methamphetamine
  • Roman Kelly, 51, for possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine, heroin, and cocaine

Defendants Could Face Life in Prison

Officials said the charges carry possible penalties including:

  • Life imprisonment
  • Large financial fines
  • Supervised release following any prison sentence

The cases will proceed in federal court.
