A Florida man has been arrested after police say he shot his roommate during an argument involving his ex-wife.
Man Accused of Shooting Roommate
Authorities identified the suspect as 56-year-old Ramon Lauzurique-Gonzalez.
He is charged with attempted second-degree murder with a firearm.
Argument Allegedly Led to Violence
According to investigators, the suspect had been living in a home with his ex-wife, the victim, and the victim’s wife for several months.
Police said the argument began when Lauzurique-Gonzalez accused his ex-wife of divorcing him because she was attracted to the victim.
Investigators said the suspect then left the house, stating in Spanish that he was “going to solve a problem.”
Victim Shot in Shoulder
Court documents say the suspect later returned with a handgun and allegedly threatened to kill the victim before opening fire.
The victim was shot in the shoulder and fell to the ground.
Police said the victim later managed to wrestle the gun away from the suspect during a struggle.
Suspect Arrested Nearby
Authorities located Lauzurique-Gonzalez a short distance from the home and took him into custody.
The victim and two witnesses later identified him in photo lineups.
He is currently being held without bond.
