A Michigan man has been sentenced to life in prison without parole for killing his ex-girlfriend in front of their young daughter.

Man Sentenced for Ex-Girlfriend’s Murder

Gregory Keyier-Deniro Davis, 46, was convicted of first-degree murder and several firearm-related charges in the 2023 killing of Annie Salem Namou Somo, 40.

A judge sentenced him to life in prison without parole on Monday.

Shooting Happened at Victim’s Workplace

Prosecutors said the attack happened outside a car dealership in Ferndale, Michigan, where Namou worked.

Authorities said Davis used his vehicle to trap Namou’s car in the parking lot before she tried to run away for help.

Investigators said Davis then shot her with a shotgun before firing another close-range shot.

Daughter Witnessed the Attack

The couple’s 10-year-old daughter was reportedly sitting inside her mother’s vehicle and witnessed the shooting.

Prosecutors also said Davis fired additional shots toward people nearby before leaving the scene.

He later surrendered to police.

Prosecutors Condemn Domestic Violence

Following the sentencing, prosecutors said women and children are too often endangered by intimate partner violence and vowed to continue fighting for victims.
