An Ohio man has been charged with murder after police say he beat his neighbor to death, wrapped the body in a rug, and hid it under mulch outside his home.

Man Accused of Killing Neighbor

Markus Say Yeanay, 28, was arrested Tuesday in connection with the death of 39-year-old Xavier Reynolds in Columbus, Ohio.

Police said Reynolds’ body was found outside a home on Brocton Court wrapped in a rug and covered with a tarp and mulch.

Victim Died From Head Injuries

An autopsy found Reynolds died from blunt force trauma to the head, according to investigators.

Detectives also reportedly found a large amount of blood inside the residence along with clothing and possible weapons in nearby trash cans.

Father Alerted Police

According to court documents, Yeanay’s father called 911 after becoming concerned about his son’s behaviour and believing someone had been killed.

The father later discovered the body and confronted Yeanay, who allegedly began crying before running away from the scene.

Police later arrested him with help from a SWAT team.

Previous Homicide Conviction

Court records show Yeanay previously served prison time after being convicted in the 2016 killing of his uncle in Indiana.

Bond Set at $1 Million

Yeanay is charged with murder and tampering with evidence. A judge ordered him held on a $1 million bond.
