Two people have been detained in North Charleston on meth trafficking allegations

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. — Two individuals were arrested on Monday afternoon after police found methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia inside an SUV parked illegally near Dorchester Road.

Discovery During Proactive Patrols

The North Charleston Police Department (NCPD) was conducting proactive patrols in a known area of narcotics activity and violent crime when they noticed the illegally parked vehicle. Officers recognized both the SUV and its driver, 47-year-old Shaun Jeremiah O’Shea of North Charleston, as being linked to suspected narcotics activity.

Investigation and Discovery

After monitoring the vehicle, officers observed O’Shea and a passenger, 26-year-old Sonni Nicole Hogg of Moncks Corner, returning to the area. A K-9 unit conducted a free-air sniff around the SUV, but the dog did not alert to the presence of drugs. However, during an inventory search prior to towing the vehicle, officers found 28.2 grams of a substance that field-tested positive for methamphetamine. They also discovered smaller bags of suspected methamphetamine, needles, and a meth pipe.

Arrest and Charges

O’Shea and Hogg were arrested and charged with trafficking methamphetamine. Both were taken to the Al Cannon Detention Center. Authorities are seeking warrants for two additional men believed to be connected to the ongoing investigation.

This arrest highlights continued efforts by local law enforcement to combat drug-related crimes in North Charleston.
