The Charleston Police Department has arrested two individuals in connection with a shooting that occurred in a West Ashley parking lot on April 28.
Arrest Details
Maurice De’Angelo Smalls Jr., 23, and Jamareon Tyquest Horlbeck, 24, both of Charleston, have been charged in relation to the incident. Smalls faces charges of first-degree assault and battery, while Horlbeck faces charges of discharging a firearm into a vehicle, first-degree assault and battery, and discharging a firearm within city limits.
Incident Overview
Officers responded to multiple reports of gunfire at approximately 8 p.m. on April 28, in the parking lot of 1812 Sam Rittenberg Boulevard. The shooting involved two people, but no injuries were reported. However, gunfire did strike an occupied vehicle that was not involved in the dispute.
Investigation and Suspects
Both suspects fled before officers arrived. Detectives later identified the individuals involved and determined that the shooting was the result of an ongoing dispute between the two men, who knew each other.
