A Missouri couple has been charged after authorities discovered the skeletal remains of their missing teenage son buried in a shallow grave at their property, according to investigators.

Couple Facing Multiple Charges

The Texas County Sheriff’s Office said Chaun Asbury, 42, and Tamala Asbury, 45, are facing charges including second-degree murder, child abuse resulting in death, abandonment of a corpse, domestic assault, and multiple child abuse charges.

Investigation Led To Disturbing Discovery

Deputies served a search warrant at the couple’s home in Piney Township, Missouri, earlier this year.

Authorities said Chaun Asbury allegedly tried to flee when officers arrived, while Tamala Asbury was detained at the home.

Investigators found three children inside the residence. According to officials, one child was allegedly locked inside a shed, bound to a bed, severely malnourished, and in need of urgent medical care.

Deputies also described the home as unsanitary and without utilities or sewer service.

Remains Identified As Missing Son

During the investigation, deputies found skeletal remains buried in a shallow grave on the property.

Officials later confirmed through dental records that the remains belonged to the couple’s missing 18-year-old son, Ceasar Asbury, who had previously been reported as a possible runaway.

Sheriff Calls Case One Of Worst Seen

Texas County Sheriff Scott Lindsey described the case as one of the worst child abuse investigations he has seen in more than 28 years in law enforcement.

The couple is currently being held in the Texas County Jail without bond as the investigation continues.
