Two people were arrested in North Charleston after police said officers found drugs and a firearm near an abandoned building in the Union Heights area.

North Charleston Police Make Drug Arrests

According to the North Charleston Police Department, officers were patrolling Delaware Avenue Tuesday afternoon when they noticed a vehicle parked next to an abandoned building known for previous criminal activity complaints.

Police said they approached the vehicle and identified the suspects as 37-year-old Sarah Elizabeth Williams and 32-year-old Joseph Collin Argenio.

Officers Reportedly Found Drugs and Gun

Investigators said Williams was outside the vehicle picking up items while Argenio was sitting inside.

Police stated that Argenio gave conflicting explanations about the nearby property, raising suspicion. Officers also noticed a power cord running from the abandoned house into a computer inside the vehicle.

During the investigation, police said they spotted a bag containing suspected cocaine on the vehicle’s center console.

Additional Suspected Drugs Found

Authorities reported finding insulin needles in Argenio’s pocket and suspected crack cocaine on Williams.

Police also discovered more suspected crack cocaine inside a backpack in the vehicle, along with a loaded handgun and ammunition.

Investigators said Argenio has prior felony convictions and is legally prohibited from possessing a firearm.

Both Suspects Taken to Jail

Williams and Argenio were arrested and transported to the Al Cannon Detention Center.

Police have not released additional details about the charges.
