A Pennsylvania man has been charged with murder after police say he stabbed his mother to death inside her home before driving away in her vehicle.
Pennsylvania Man Charged in Mother’s Killing
Quadir Ford, 20, was arrested Monday and charged with first-degree murder and several other crimes in connection with the death of his mother, 51-year-old Michelle Fleming.
The incident happened at a home in Drexel Hill, Pennsylvania, near Philadelphia.
Victim Found With Multiple Stab Wounds
According to police, officers responded to the home after receiving a call and found Fleming dead inside the residence.
Authorities said she suffered 12 stab wounds to the chest.
Police also learned that Ford had allegedly left the home in his mother’s car and taken her phone.
Suspect Allegedly Confessed to Killing
Investigators tracked Ford to Springfield Township, about 20 miles away, where he was arrested.
According to court documents, Ford allegedly admitted to stabbing his mother after an argument.
Police said he also told investigators he threw away the knife, gloves, and mask used during the attack.
Police Say Relationship Was Strained
Authorities stated that Ford and his mother reportedly had a difficult relationship for years.
Police described the case as a tragic act of family violence.
Ford is currently being held without bail in Delaware County Prison and is expected to appear in court again on May 19.
