Cocaine and fentanyl are seized by North Charleston police after a traffic check

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. — A 43-year-old man was arrested on multiple drug charges on Friday evening following a traffic stop in North Charleston. The arrest occurred in the Ashley Phosphate Road area, known for ongoing narcotics activity, and was part of a focused effort by local police to address the issue.

Traffic Stop Leads to Arrest

Around 6 p.m., officers with the North Charleston Police Department were patrolling the area when they observed a vehicle that briefly stopped at a local motel known for drug-related activity before leaving. The vehicle was later stopped at the intersection of Stall Road and Carter Road after the driver failed to stop at a stop sign.

Discovery of Drugs in Vehicle

The driver, identified as Fernando Guadalupe, consented to a search of the vehicle. Officers discovered an open cigarette pack in the center console containing approximately 0.58 grams of an off-white, rock-like substance. The substance tested presumptively positive for both cocaine and fentanyl.

Arrest and Charges

Guadalupe was arrested and charged with possession of cocaine, third or subsequent offense, and possession with intent to distribute fentanyl. He was taken to the Al Cannon Detention Center to await further proceedings.

This arrest highlights ongoing efforts by local authorities to combat drug activity in the area and remove illegal substances from the streets of North Charleston.
