Authorities in Clarendon County have identified the man killed in an early Sunday morning shooting as 37-year-old George Ragin Jr., a resident of Manning, South Carolina. The Clarendon County Sheriff’s Office responded to the shooting at Ashburn Inn, located at 5973 Alex Harvin Highway near I-95, around 2:40 a.m. Deputies arrived to find Ragin dead from a gunshot wound to the upper body.
Investigation Leads to Arrest
Following further investigation, authorities identified the suspect as 57-year-old Willie Ray Nelson Jr. of Buffalo Junction, Virginia. Nelson, who was already wanted on unrelated charges, was arrested around 1:30 p.m. Sunday at a home in Williamsburg County. He is currently being held at the Clarendon County jail, where charges related to the shooting are pending.

Clarendon County Coroner Jacqueline Blackwell confirmed the identity of the victim as George Ragin Jr. Authorities have indicated that the incident is still under investigation.
