A 32-year-old man was killed in a single-vehicle crash Wednesday morning in Berkeley County, South Carolina. The incident occurred along South Carolina Highway 41, and the victim has been identified as David Lee of McClellanville.
Details of the Crash
According to the Berkeley County Coroner’s Office, the crash was reported at approximately 7:37 a.m. on April 29, 2026. The South Carolina Highway Patrol (SCHP) stated that the crash took place near Jericho Horse Trail, where Lee, the driver and sole occupant of a 2008 Toyota sedan, was traveling south on Highway 41.
Troopers reported that the vehicle ran off the right side of the roadway and struck a tree. Lee was pronounced dead at the scene due to the injuries he sustained in the collision.
Response from Emergency Services
Several agencies responded to the scene, including the City of Charleston Fire & Rescue, Berkeley County EMS, Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office, and Cainhoy Fire & Rescue. Despite their efforts, Lee was unable to be saved.
Ongoing Investigation
At this time, authorities have not disclosed any additional details about what may have caused the vehicle to leave the roadway. The Berkeley County Coroner’s Office and the South Carolina Highway Patrol are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
