HORRY COUNTY, S.C. — Drivers are being urged to avoid a portion of North Nichols Highway in Nichols following a single-vehicle crash that left one person critically injured and blocked traffic on Saturday night.

Details of the Crash

According to Horry County Fire Rescue (HCFR), the crash occurred near the intersection of North Nichols Highway and Silver Sand Lane, where a vehicle overturned and trapped an occupant inside. Crews were dispatched to the scene at 7:18 p.m. and performed extrication operations to remove the entrapped individual.

Injuries and Ongoing Investigation

One person was transported to the hospital with critical injuries. The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating the cause of the crash.
